IPAI: Welcome, Anne, glad to have you with us! As Bürkert’s Head of Digital Toolchain you are driving the efforts to incorporate AI into your value creation. How does your company view artificial intelligence in today’s landscape?
Anne: We see artificial intelligence as a significant opportunity. It’s essential for us to harness the potential in this area responsibly, aligning our approach with our value proposition to customers, employees, and society.
Since it’s one of the more crucial challenges, how does your company balance technology and the human element in AI?
We’re a very social and people-centered organization. When utilizing AI, we prioritize not just the technology but also the ethical, moral, and emotional implications for individuals and society. We want to explore how technology can help us unlock the positive potential within us for the benefit of our society, environment, and planet.
It is time for German SMEs to approach AI with openness, curiosity and collaboration. We at Bürkert are fortunate that a powerful and dominant ecosystem for AI is emerging right on our doorstep. We are excited to contribute to IPAI and embark on this learning journey with the other partners. We are looking forward to it!

Do you see challenges in that, or do you believe AI can help address some of them?
Imagine if AI could help us tackle challenges that currently seem overwhelming, from small issues to larger societal problems. It should enable us to find a balance in the process.
What kind of expertise are you looking for in potential collaborators?
We seek individuals who are enthusiastic and have some technical knowledge of AI. We’ve already tested smaller topics through proof of concept, and we’re looking for practical experience in identifying use cases. This could range from order processing to lead generation and knowledge handling.
…and what are you hoping to achieve through collaboration in the IPAI Community?
We’re eager to exchange experiences with others on AI and tackle common challenges. By working together, we can initiate joint projects that drive transformative value. AI is a topic that can be tackled more effectively cooperatively than individually.
Taking this into account, what benefits do you anticipate from these collaborations?
We expect to gain new contacts, perspectives, and insights into how others are using AI. By pooling our knowledge and expertise, we believe we can accelerate the value-creating use of AI, both as a company and as a business location.
Let’s assume everything works out as planned, where do you see Bürkert in 1, 5 and 10 years thanks to the integral use of AI?
In the first year, we anticipate gaining more know-how within the company, leading to fewer concerns and better assessments of the potential and opportunities that AI presents. We expect to complete our first proof of concepts and identify initial potentials. In five years, we envision confidently handling new AI applications in parts of the company, effectively utilizing existing AI applications in our daily work, and delivering first solutions for our customers using AI. Looking ten years ahead, we aim for a comprehensive integration of AI throughout the company, utilizing it in both our products and everyday operations.
Thank you very much for these insights and welcome aboard!
